How to Choose The Right Size Kinetic Rope For Your VehicleUpdated 2 months ago
With all of the different lengths and diameters of kinetic ropes, choosing the right size for your rig can be a daunting task.
Thankfully, we created this article to help you make the right choice!
To start, you will need to select a rope that has an appropriate working load limit for your vehicle type.
5/8" - With a working load of 5,000 LBS and a 15,000 LBS Break Strength, this rope is suited for Side by Sides and UTV's
7/8" - Featuring a 9,500 LBS working load and a 26,000 LBS break strength, this rope is ideal for mid-size pickup trucks and SUV's
1" - Great for 1 ton trucks and large overland rigs, this rope features an 11,000 LBS working load and a 33,000 LBS break strength
1.25" - The largest kinetic rope we currently offer, this size is suited for heavy equipment, semi trucks and other large vehicles. 17,000 LBS working load limit and a 52,000 LBS break strength.
Next, you will need to decide which length you want. 10', 20' or 30'.
The 10' is often used as a bridle to spread the load across 2 frame anchors during a recovery. It can be used in combination with a tree saver or tow strap if your doing a straight line pull.
20' ropes are a popular choice for tight trails with lots of tree cover and sharp turns. This rope gives enough length to put some distance between vehicles, while also maintaining manuverability.
30' ropes are great for wide open spaces like beaches, long mud pits and other large areas. Especially popular in areas like Florida, where 10' can be the difference of pulling from dry ground or down in the mud hole.
Hopefully this helps, and let us know if you have any questions!
